Test Equipment Design Engineer, RF and Electronics
Based in Bolton
Salary: Up to £52,500 + Bonus, Overtime, Pension
You are an experienced RF, electrical or test engineer, and you are tired of handing a design over and never finding out what happens next. This role puts you right in the middle of it.
You would join a Production Design Support team in Bolton, acting as the link between the design teams and the manufacturing teams. You will design and support the test equipment that proves defence products work, see your work come to life on the production floor, and have a genuine say in how both the products and the test equipment evolve.
What you will be doing:
-
Designing and supporting test equipment for the manufacturing environment
-
Acting as the technical interface between design and manufacturing
-
Investigating design related issues, finding the root cause and proposing corrective actions that hold up
-
Running discrete work packages, including preparing bids and controlling costs
-
Mentoring other engineers and engineering technicians
-
Working across a multi-disciplinary team, negotiating and influencing to get the right result
What you will need:
-
Proven design experience in one or more of: RF and antenna design, electrical architecture, design for safety and integrity, or RF test and measurement principles
-
Experience designing products or systems, and/or supporting designs through the manufacturing phase
-
Knowledge or experience of the full product lifecycle
-
Strong investigative skills, with a track record of finding root cause on design related issues
-
The ability to write clear, concise engineering documentation
-
Confident verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills
-
Comfortable working autonomously and leading your own work assignments through to delivery
Ideally: a degree or equivalent industry experience, and a willingness to support and mentor others.
Why it is worth a conversation: circa £52,500 depending on experience, company bonus of up to £2,500, pension with total contributions of up to 14%, paid overtime, up to 15 flexi leave days, enhanced parental leave, subsidised meals and free parking.
Worth knowing before you apply: the role is on-site four to five days a week, due to workload classification, so it is not hybrid in the usual sense. Due to security clearance requirements, you must hold current British citizenship (dual nationals with British citizenship are fine).
